Spring has sprung

Pollen is in the air

And in your hair

It covers your car

And if you sit still

Everything you wear

WEEKLY HABITS

Monday Nights:

Every Monday at 6:00 PM an informal group of local (mostly Christian) singles meet for food and fellowship at the Sonny’s BBQ on Russell Parkway in Warner Robins . (Next to CVS drugstore at the corner of Russell Pkwy and Kimberly Way .)  This is a good way to meet singles from various churches and get “plugged in” to various activities in the greater Houston/Bibb County area.

Also on Monday Nights:

Every Monday night dance lessons are given to anyone who shows up. The lessons cost one dollar, begin at 7pm and are at the Eagle’s Spring’s ballroom building.

Thursday Nights:

Every Thursday at 7:00 PM singles from mainly Bibb County churches (Lawrence Drive Baptist and ???) meet for skating at the Bibb Skate Arena at 5335 Hawkinsville Road . (also known as Hiway 247)  Arena # (478) 788-1321.  Due to limited access from northbound 247 the skate arena is best approached from southbound 247.  If northbound on 247 turn left on Allen Road and then turn right on Houston Road where Allen Road dead ends into Houston Road .  Continue north until Houston Road dead ends into 247.  Turn right (south) on 247 and the arena is immediately on the right.  Link to arena  (with map!)  Admission is $5.  Quad skate rental is $1, inline skate rental is $2.  This is a rather old facility but it is “good, clean fun”. (and exercise!)

Go to the coffee shop across from the hospital on Watson behind the CVS, not just for the coffee and sandwich. The local artist they are featuring right now is pretty good. He uses electrical tape to collage. Check it out. prinniemack.com

My Easter

According to a MSN lifestyle, men’s article “actually being a role model” is the best way to teach your children. No kidding! I hope he didn’t get paid a lot for that piece of genius. What does this have to do with you, me or the price of tea (coffee kicking in)?

Once again I have the privilage of demonstrating what not to do or how to get out of the fix you put yourself in in the first place.

I have fallen of the obediance wagon again (I think my seatbelt is broken), but God didn’t and won’t throw me out because of it. (It’s that old “baby and the bath water” thing, God knows it too.) So today I will demonstrate to you how God’s grace works/worked for me. It works the same for you.

I am not perfect.  Romans 3:10 “There is no one righteous, not even one”

Even after salvation, being a Christian, receiving God’s gift of eternal life I still sin occasionally. I still fall, stumble, forget, make mistakes. Romans 3:23 “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,” Until we are out of these earthly skins that is exactly what we will all do. Freedom of choice, sweetie, that’s what that’s all about. It’s a gift and a curse at the same time.

What’s so exciting, wonderful, amazing, makes you fall down on your knees and praise God is that he forgives and forgets. Romans 5:8 “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

Christ died for my past, present and future sins. Amen! Thank you Jesus! Does that mean I can go sin all I want? NO! If you have that inclination then you probably never accepted the gift of salvation in the first place. The Holy Spirit in you would have been writhing in agony, screaming at the top of his lungs at such a thought. If the Holy Spirit’s not screaming “NO” then it’s probably not there.

That is how I celebrated Easter, down on my emotional knees confessing before God and praising his holy name for dieing for my sins. Which is exactly where I should have been whether I “felt” I needed his forgiveness or not. “Which of these is the more grateful? The one with the greater debt.”

Do you have greater debt? God forgives!

This Woman’s Opinion

I’ve heard that a woman who is pure with a heart for God is very attractive to men; though you wouldn’t know it by the fellas I know or have seen.

Well let me tell you what this woman thinks is attractive. Nothing is sexy like a man who is so self-assured in his Christian walk that he is willing to pray in public without flinching! Being honest, painfully honest is a very close second. That’s just my opinion though, and hey, I’m still single myself so what do I know.

Earth Day

On the subject of the up coming election

Here’s a road I just don’t’ want to go down. Why because it’s so sensitive a subject. People are genuinely frightened at the thought of a certain character being elected as president. The other one, who is just about out of the running, only makes people angry. Right now she’s fuel for humor and ridicule, bless her heart. The only good candidate is really the lesser of the three evils. He isn’t what I’d choose on a good day but in comparison he’s a gem.  Times seem to be always on the brink of disaster when its election time.

Now don’t flood me with your presidential candidate opinion unless you’re willing for your opinion to be posted cause that’s exactly what I’ll do!

Just a Suggestion

Warm air means roll down your windows, (oh my gosh I’ve just dated myself) put on your Ran Bans and crank up the music. Here are a few of my favorite songs. They perk me up even more than my over sugared coffee. So dance and sing like ain’t no one around.

March Newsletter

Happy
March
Singles

Isn’t it a great time to be alive

The sun is shining,

The birds are flying,

The flowers are blooming,

No I’m not in love

I just love the spring

And I’m standing in showers of blessings

After all those days of wet cold weather

And financial and emotional hardships

It feels good to be standing in the sonshine

And

Happy

Easter

These are the days leading up to Easter,

leading up to the death

and resurrection of our Lord and Savoir Jesus Christ.

Easter should not be just a day.

It should be a way of life,

the reason for faith,

our purpose.

I danced with Cinderella

This came off of my blog so it may be old news to some of you but we all seem to be going through it so it’s relevant.

There’s been a new song on the radio lately. I don’t know if it’s good timing or bad, but hearing it reminds me how much I miss my daughter. http://youtube.com/watch?v=4B1XM9jWiLI  (I work in a children’s Home. I had to choose the one that had a plug for adoption. Remember they’re children not shirts. You can’t just put them back if they don’t fit right.)

It’s weird to miss your child just because she’s grown up and living across town. I think that, the thing is, its like she has been so many different people over the years and I have enjoyed every one of those people and now she is none of those people.

Like in kindergarten when she wore this huge pink bow on her head and that impish, dimpled grin on her face cause she knew she was cute and no one could resist her charms.

And when we went canoeing when she was in about fifth grade. She was so determined to be grown up about canoeing but in the end we both wound up stretched out on our bellies on a sandbar digging through the sand for clams and arrowheads. She would never do that now.

Or when she was in middle school and would come running out of her room crying hysterically and I would run to her and say, “What’s wrong?” and she would wail back, “I don’t know.” I would just hold her and laugh. My baby, my poor sweet baby! Now she’s someone else’s baby.

We used to go to the mall and try on ball gowns just for the fun of it. Those days, that little girl who did all those things with me is gone and even though I love the woman she has become I still miss the little girl and even the teenager that she was.

You know I’m listening to that song as I type, my eyes glistening, and I remember that Sarah and I used to dance. We had a song that was ours. When she was little I would pick her up and we would sway back and forth and I’d end up swinging her around and around. When she got bigger I showed her how to dip and twirl. We would dance around the kitchen laughing till we were out of breath. I remember that. http://youtube.com/watch?v=FX–7gFHkU0 My baby girl, good night I miss her!

So many of us are becoming grandparents, empty nesters or parent-in-laws. It’s a strange sensation, watching your children grow and change.

I don’t regret it, not one little bit; that kind of love is… well it’s just worth it.
