As for single events/activities that are going on right now... there isn't very much going on. Most people are probably still busy playing with their new toys. Personally, I'm still trying to get used to waking up and going to work after that long stretch off. (Remember I'm a teacher, I get two and half weeks at Christmas. It's a hard life but somebody's got to do it.)

This is a website worth looking into.
It is written by a fella out in Texas who has started a new church. He's very insightful and welcomes comments.
There was a great discussion on ‘once saved always saved" on his blog last week.
I hope your holidays were peace-filled and joy-filled, those two being my personal goals every day. Mine was both. I tried to take a new approach to the holidays, as I am one of those people who live to make others happy, I decided to do what makes me happy instead. It was very difficult at times but relaxing once I got into the swing of it. So, for instance, we had fried shrimp for Christmas Eve dinner and I went to the candlelight service alone and in blue jeans. This was totally not our tradition ...but I like shrimp and I like blue jeans and I like the candlelight service, so I was happy.
All my kids were there on Christmas day. I only have two and a half kids. One lives with me and one and a half don't. It was weird waiting for them to show up to open presents instead of her waking me up to open presents. It made me realize what a blessing it is to have kids who are willing and able to visit me on the holidays. Not everyone has that.
By the way I got a great picture of my daughter's better half. He's really a nice young man and I am very proud of him. I think he was trying to compete with Dood's Halloween picture. They make me so proud! Wal-Mart, who knew it could be such an entertaining place to hang out.
This is my grandchild. His name is Rosco. He's learned a lot in the last few months. He doesn't potty on the floor anymore and will do anything for a treat. He's really very spoiled.

By the way, the Byron Christmas parade was pretty cool. If you like ‘laid back' and ‘small town' then its right for you. Take a Wal-Mart bag with ya and they'll think you're local, as there's more candy thrown from floats at the parade than at Halloween.
I know we have up-coming elections and I'll tell you the truth. I have no idea, yet who I will vote for. It appears, from the primary results so far, that no one else is all that sure either. I can, however, think of at least two people I will never vote for. Can you guess who they are?
I've been making my students write positive statements about themselves (I am good at...or I am a good person because...) on snowflakes every morning as they come in the door. So far they've had to come up with five positive comments. It's beginning to look like winter but I'm surprised at how difficult they are finding this assignment. Five positive comments! By the end of the month they will have written 20 comments. Would you be able to do that?
Oh yes, I had a lovely birthday filled with roses, chocolate, a pink feathered boa, lots of warm hugs from good friends and more chocolate. There's something about a pink boa!
Once again,
If I left something out let me know.
Take care and if you need anything let me know that too,
Brenda
